# About Us

Our story, our approach, our heart.

## Our Story

Bojangles Day Nursery was established in 1994 and has been a cherished part of the Baschurch community ever since, providing exceptional childcare for families across Shrewsbury and North Shropshire. For parents searching for a family-run nursery Shrewsbury, a small nursery near me, or a day nursery in Baschurch, we have been that nursery for over 30 years.

With 35 places and a team of nine qualified practitioners holding Level 3 to Level 7 early years qualifications (including staff qualified to degree and postgraduate level), we have created a nurturing home-from-home in our purpose-built nursery where every child is encouraged to be themselves. Our management team has a strong vision for the nursery and continually reflects on our provision to identify areas for development.

Partnerships with parents are at the heart of what we do. Parents tell us that our staff are "friendly and supportive" and that their children are "happy and settled". We share your child's experiences through our online learning journey, so you never miss a moment.

## Our Facilities

Bojangles is a **purpose-built nursery** set in a peaceful rural location on the Walford Campus, with spacious rooms and easy access to our outdoor play areas. Our setting includes:

- Three age-appropriate rooms (Baby, Toddler and Pre-School)
- A dedicated **sensory room** with disco ball, mirrors, soft toys and sensory equipment — a separate, calming space used to support sensory exploration and inclusive play for all children, including those with additional needs
- A soft play area for our youngest children
- Extensive outdoor grounds and gardens in the Shropshire countryside
- A rural, nature-rich setting with grass hills, mud kitchen and open-air play spaces

## Our Approach

We believe in learning through play, exploring nature, and nurturing each child as an individual.

- **Learning Through Play** — play is at the heart of everything we do. Staff promote a love of storytelling, using props to spark imagination and recall. Children become absorbed in mathematical concepts through sand and water play, learning about empty, full, bigger and smaller. Children's engagement in activities is good because our staff know every child very well.
- **Nature & Outdoors** — children have regular opportunities to exercise and be active outdoors. They access movable climbing and construction materials in the garden, delight in running up and over the grass hills, and explore nature every day. Toddlers push themselves along on ride-on toys, and babies develop their balance using walkers and soft-play equipment.
- **Individual Care** — every child is unique. Our key person approach ensures each child receives personal attention and support. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported particularly well — all our staff have completed sign language training to aid communication with children who need extra assistance.

## Staying Connected with Tapestry

We use Tapestry, a secure online learning journal, to keep you connected to your child's day — so you never miss a moment.

**What you'll receive each day:**

- Photos and videos of your child engaged in activities
- Written observations describing what your child was doing, what they said, and the learning taking place
- Daily care diary — what they ate and drank, nap times, nappy changes, and any notes from the day
- Nursery memos — news, reminders, upcoming events and suggested home activities

**How you can get involved:**

- Comment and like observations — ask questions or share what your child said about their day at home
- Share home learning — upload your own photos and observations from weekends, holidays and milestones
- Track your child's learning journey — every observation is linked to the EYFS areas of learning
- Keep it forever — download your child's complete journal as a PDF or order a professionally printed keepsake book

Tapestry is available as a free app on iOS, Android and via the web. You will receive your secure login when your child starts with us.
